Calico Corners has a large selection of outdoor fabrics and can custom whatever size and style you want. It's pricier than off the shelf, but you can get exactly what you want.

Solar shades will give you privacy and light and heat control during the day but you will still need drapes at night or maybe roman shades a couple of pics would be good to give us some more ideasThe nice thing about the solar shades is you canstill enjoy the view during the day.

This is not a closed in space, this is open air. What do you suggest for a back deck/porch area.

We had a sun issue on one side of our back porch, and just this summer mounted a Coolaroo Exterior Cordless Roller Shade that we found on Amazon. So far, it works well for us. You need some sort of structure to mount it on (in our case, a pergola). It's not very expensive and it's low tech, so little to break. It rolls out of the way when we don't need it, and definitely shields the sun when we need it. We don't have a privacy issue, but best I can tell it offers decent privacy too. You might be interested in something like that.
