Need help saving my Queen of the Night plant

Hi! I hope someone can help. I have a Queen of the Night plant that is a cutting from my aunt's plant which is from my grandmother's plant - original plant probably over 50 years old! My cuttings are probably 4-5 years old and NOT growing well. Each time it starts looking good, it stays nice for about a month, then pieces start drying up and turning black...very scraggly :( I have a cutting I took from this plant and it does the same thing. Sprouts nicely, then all of a sudden, pft - turns black and dry :(

I planted it in cactus soil last year - it did GREAT for a while.... the stubs on the stems is where I have had to cut the dead leaves off....this has never flowered....never come close. I have had it in the window (sun from 9am to sunset) and it has done well.....then not....so I moved it away from the direct sun....did ok...then not. Repotted last summer (as mentioned earlier) with cactus soil.....did well for a little bit :(

Here is the cutting I took from the one above last year - it had some new growth on the large leave where you see the stubs....then I check one day and they dried up :( All the tips on the big leaves have dried off as well. This plant is very sentimental to me.....I would give anything to have it thrive - what am I doing wrong????
