Doorbell advice

We have this original 1940s Nutone 3-chime doorbell in our house. Now that we have remodeled, it's much more visible than before, and the original cover looks pretty shabby. Any idea if/where we can get a nice replacement cover for it? Seems excessive to get a whole new doorbell at a cost of 100s of $ for this style.

You could paint the same grey as the wall and refinish the brass - not a difficult job and there are lots of articles on Google to help. You could also leave as is, but refreshing the brass would really make the most difference.

I love the wallpaper, the rest of your home must be just as lovely! what about a wood trim cornice in white to enclose just the top?

We had one of these in our house (50s) when I was growing up. I have no idea where to get a new cover, but I think an original is always beautiful. Not shabby at all.

You could make one or have one made in a wood that matches your furniture or floors or doors. It would be simple to make.

You could also have just a panel made that fills the top foot or so of the niche. Make it with moulding that matches the door frame.

It's a keeper, as far as I'm concerned. Set in the alcove highlights its beauty.

Wallpaper and cover complement each other, but if unhappy spray pain it.
