I figured it wouldn't be much different from parallel parking, and the driver's test dimensions for that are 7'x25'. How wide would you think it would need to be? I could add another two feet, but that's it.

The picture did not strike me as parallel parking with the door placement, but maybe this answers the question of having enough room if you want to parallel park in your garage.

I guess I'm a natural born geometrician because I'm almost always able to get my suv parked in one motion, but yes, Lily's Mom, other people might not find it convenient. I had considered the drive through set up, but I hate to lose so much yard to car parking. A 24x24 turnaround (if that would even be sufficient) would bring the garage and driveway total to about 35% of the lot.

I don't personally need enclosed parking for two cars, but while there are many houses in my 'hood that have single car garages (or no garage at all), all the new builds have two or three-car garages. I was trying to stay competitive there, but they all have twice the square footage of what I'll have even after the addition, so that's probably a pointless exercise to begin with. Surely a nice starter home in a great school district can always attract a buyer. I hope so!
