This looks excruciatingly uncomfortable, suitable for children to grab a hot dog or burger and then dash away. There's no way I'd recommend this for a dining space.

Bench ok but more like a banquette where you can rest your back...sitting a long time on a bench is not really comfy !

I like the idea of bench seating if the seating is very eclectic and have one side bench, the other chairs.

Easy and clean for an eat in kitchen with lots of kids. I wouldn't have it in my dining room. Then again I don't have one. Some stain proof cushions on the benches would be good.

Benches are great for kids! For adults, especially those of use with arthritis, we need to sit in a well made chair with good back support!

Benches look really nice, and especially if you want a farmhouse look. However, it will kill your back. So unless you are looking to shorten the time you spend around the dining table, I recommend you go with chairs. Good luck!

My back is way too old for that stuff. I would like a comfortable dining chair that is conducive to "interesting dinner discussions".

I have one with a bench against one wall. I creates a nook. I like the little shelves under the benches.

I would only have benches if it was a banquette type nook that was well cushioned. Benches at a dining table, only if I didn't want the company to stay. Hmm, there's a thought, keep some handy, just in case.

No benches for adults. To hard to get into and out of and forces everyone to sit the same distance from the table-which may be uncomfortable for some.

If you love classic and vintage style, then dinning table with benches as setting is the perfect choice.

    Wot they said.

It's not perfect style. It's medieval style, and pub style. Only comfortable for kids.

Agreed with the above comment. Love the idea of bench seating at a dining table, but a banquette is a more comfortable option. You can also do a banquette on one side of the table with matching chairs on the other ends.
