Basement concrete is an odd duck. It has different requirements when "rolling" on a product. Depending on the age of the home/slab, there may not be a moisture barrier underneath the slab. That means that ANYTHING you use on the slab MUST BE MOISTURE RESISTANT. That gets EXPENSIVE.

This is a bit trickier than you might realize. Even professional slab experts have problems "slapping down" products. It takes some specific testing to find out what LEVEL of moisture issues you may (or may not) have. This takes about a week of testing and should cost $200 - $500 from a professional.

Once you KNOW the real numbers for the slab, you can then go ahead and find a product that works at that moisture level (actually you need a product that works at several steps HIGHER than that number).

If you roll on something without these steps, you are looking at bubbling and peeling in a few weeks, months or 2-3 years. Even the DIY epoxy kits at H.D. have been known to fail in untested basements inside of 2-3 years.

Before you try anything, please have your slab assessed. A few hundred dollars today, will save you thousands later. Just a little FIY on concrete slabs. They are fascinating, annoying and highly unpredictable. Good luck.

Basically, you have to wash it, neutralize it, then seal it. There is concrete sealer that is not paint. We used that above method in our basement, and have not had a problem, even after the basement flooded.....sump pump went out!!

We neutralized it with OdoBan from Sam's club. I forget what concrete sealer we used. It is a long weekend project.
