Dining room help!

I have an amazing dining table that was passed down to me. I had it painted gray and it is "chunky"--all wood. It is in storage so I don't have a picture but I will try to find something similar. I would label it "traditional". As empty nesters, we are moving into an urban condo--and I am not sure if I'm going contemporary, industrial or mid-century modern. Our Living/kitchen/dining is all one open floor/space with 15' ceilings (maybe 20?). We are leaning toward a gray "L" sectional, possibly tufted, with legs-open. Our counter stools at the island are gunmetal. I'm not sure what chairs to get but I'm leaning toward the mid century ones below--perhaps white with black legs? would these plastic modern chairs look ok with the chunky table? Or should onlooking or something more contemporary? I don't want anything bulky--mainly because the table kabob the middle of the room--and we think most of our time will be at the island or in the living area.
