They look good to me. Is that a tree weedling or two left bottom?

Cool thank you! tonight I too noticed what I thought were little tree sprouts. You comment makes me more sure so i am going to pull them in the am.

I see marigolds like the two at the top of the photo and zinnias such as those along the right side. Not sure I see any petunias.

If the manure was old, it's good, but usually is mixed with at least half other material (better 75%). See how it does this year. Sometimes the nitrogen levels in manure can be high enough that it encourages leafy growth at the expense of flowers, but you can consider this an experiment. If it does well as is, do the same next season. If not, modify it.

One way to reduce weeds is before planting, put moist soil/manure in a microwaveable container or roasting bag and heat it to steaming. this can also be done in a foil container on an outdoor grill or in an over. It does smell a bit rank, so do on a day when you don't have the windows closed if doing indoors. (Don't open while hot so you don't burn yourself on steam.) That will sterilize the soil and kill weed seeds. Use this for the top 2"-3" of soil. You may still have a few seeds that blow in, but this will reduce the number of weed seeds available to germinate.

just a little reminder that zinnias don't transplant easily. But those marigolds do, so if they get thick or too big, you can transplant them elsewhere very easily with good watering for a few weeks or so.
