u bet - though check the other questions/comments posted here for more discussion. Tiles are plain, basic white subway tiles; grout is Tek "Silverado".

I am trying to decide what white to use on my cabinets. What made you decide on your color white
  • 13 years ago
Pure white is clean and bright - I liked it with the stainless steel and also with the reddish floors. You'll want to test samples in your space, since the amount and quality of natural light will affect the color.

Did you pick out subway tile after your paint or did you do it all together
  • 13 years ago
Also :) do you have another table in that room? Besides the small one that we see in pic. I bought a house and kitchen is similar layout

Knew I wanted pure white cabinets/trim and also classic white subway tiles; had a finished cabinet door sample so used that to make sure the subway tiles would work. (They did.) Then chose the Silverado grout to give some definition to the tiles and break up all the white. No other table in the kitchen -- this one seats 6-8 (if we squish). Also have the 4 bar stools and a dining room.

Another question:). Can you picture Carrara marble going with your wall paint that you chose
  • 13 years ago
It would depend on the slab, but offhand I'd say no. The Calcutta Gold has a lot of beige/brown tones, which works with the Edgecomb gray; Cararra is more blue-gray, so I'd probably go with a different wall color. Get a paint fan deck and experiment once you have your slab in place.

Ok thanks can u tell me where u bought the basic whit subway tile to match your whites. Was it as basic as a Home Depot brand thans you have been so helpful
  • 13 years ago
We almost went with Home Depot subways, but ended up getting from a tile store for only a little bit more $. The tile store tiles felt a little more substantial, but the look was very similar.

Jchillis - I would only do bright white subways with off-white cabinets if you have you have bright white somewhere else in the room, i.e., in the counters or trim work. Since the backsplash goes up last, you could make a small test board with the white subway tiles and prop it up to see how you like it.
The windowsill is bright white, but really that is all. Am I better off with an off white tile? My counters are new venetian gold.
It's easy enough to do a test board, but you could also go a shade lighter than the cabinets. Or look at other Houzz photos with off-white cabs to see what you like.
