Cabinet design help, please!

We renovated our kitchen and have to add some new cabinets to the existing ones. It's expensive to match the current cabinet doors, so we're opting to replace all the upper cabinet doors. The lowers will remain stained and we are painting the uppers, that's why we are only replacing the upper doors.

My question is, is it okay to mix cabinet styles? The existing ones are cathedral. I was thinking of replacing the uppers in shaker style. I thought it was different enough from the cathedral that it might complement them instead of clash. Our house is sort of an updated traditional style, so I'm thinking the kitchen would remain somewhat traditional with the cathedral style, yet get that current updated look with the shaker.

So, the lowers would be dark stained ash, cathedral style, and uppers would be white painted shaker style, several of them having glass inserts.
