This is my tiny guest room/tv room in Manhattan. When we bought the apartment, it had three walk-in closets in the foyer. During a nearly two year renovation, we combined two of the closets into a not quite 8'X10' room. The cabinets surrounding the 'fireplace' (alcohol gel fueled) match the grid panels on the wall bed wall opposite. The doors to this room are double pocket doors that have mirrored glass on both sides of the door for both privacy and to reflect light. Because the room is so small, I used a dark, moody blue (F&B Stiffkey) to creat a cocoon-like space and to blur the edges so the tiny size isn't so obvious. I know using a dark color in a tiny space isn't for everyone but it works for me. And since I have had guests (two are sleeping there as I type this!) throughout construction, the dark color hasn't deterred visitors. But my question for you all is whether I should paint the floorboard and trim detail around the room in the blue. That was my original intent and if my painting contractor could have read my mind, he would have known to do so. I forgot to tell him. The floor will get carpeted in a light color wool when everything is done and artwork will add other colors. The light ceiling is getting its own treatment with a slight sheen and touch of mica to give it a subtle glow. Finally, the double French pocket door trim is painted in F&B's All White, a very modern white, which I intend to keep even if I paint the rest of the trim in Stiffkey. So what's it to be for the rest of the trim, Houzzers, blue or white? Thanks, much.
