Try the Raja Puri variety. I have planted this variety for many years
now and every growing season, they bear fruit for me. I planted them close to my house to protect from the cold. So far, it seems this variety is the most cold hardy for me. Here's a picture of my Raja Puri fruiting this year at a stem height of 4-5 ft. The daughter plant that is behind

it is also sending out a bloom at a stem height of 3 ft. The advantage of having these dwarf bananas is that you don't have so much mess to clean up after they die off or done fruiting.
