the more you have.... the less intense you might want them to be. how about doing 2 as a pair in a strong print, and 1 as a striped or solid co ordinating neutral?

I agree with the previous post, if you use all of the chairs you have available it will loose the focal point look that you want to go for. I would suggest using either one chair with a sofa, and use the other two chairs somewhere else in an area such as an office or something. Personally, I like how bright the red looks in the picture of the back of the chair, if you keep that color and just get new leather I think it will be a good pop of color for a living room.

One suggestion: If you're choosing a cloth fabric rather than leather or vinyl, consider adding a bit of stuffing to the arms.

If your tastes are more causal than formal, consider denim for your fabric -- it comes in more than blue and is both comfortable and, provided the seams are properly done to prevent raveling, usually very durable.

A higher back and matching ottoman can make a chair more comfortable for sitting longer.

You might also ask about adding a higher back to serve as a head rest or adding a cushion as a headrest.

You might also consider investing in relatively inexpensive ottoman -- even a Wall Mart all fabric square ottoman would work if you added castors to it -- and have it recovered at the same time with the same fabric -- perhaps with lift of lid for storage and/or reversible for a solid service should a table top be needed. Check out your local used/antique furniture store places and see if you can find a used footstool you like -- Habitat for Humanity Restore store, Salvation Army, GoodWill, church sponsored thrift stores, etc.

Is this a DIY project? If you haven't yet found a pro in your area to do the work, the local auto glass and upholstery people and/or sewing shops would likely be able to give you names and numbers or perhaps even business cards.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I'm rather fond of this print for a chair. It would be standout.

Thanks! Currently two are together in the living room and the other is in an adjacent sitting room (and it's a tan). I the red a lot. But I'm considering a bright cobalt blue with a blue oriental rug and neutral sofas. I have a lot to think about!
