Agastache, is something you should be able to transplant now. There are many kinds. They are xeric, attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Sedums, including tall sedums should be fine to plant now as well. There are several colors of tall sedums, even a variegated one. They flower late in the season and bees love them too. Kniphofia uvaria or torch lily is probably fine to plant now. It may not look too great for a while, but it will come back next year just fine.

Thanks. This is great. I planted day lilies this spring and they've been very happy.. Also have some happy shasta daisies, roses and one pensemon. I like the butterfly bush idea, as that could fill in some space. I like flowering plants for sure and anything that has a nice smell. Thanks for the agastache idea too. Torch lilies would be fun to get set up for next year. I'm going to take that and a few of these other names with me to the garden center.

It's such a great time to acquire perennials. Almost every garden center is having sales. I'm not sure where you live, but O'Toole's is having a big sale this weekend and I'm sure others are as well. I cannot resist!

I just planted some butterfly weed (asclepias tuberosa) in my Fort Collins front yard a couple of days ago, and it's as happy as all-get-out. It's a host and nectar plant for the monarch butterfly.

I'm definitely not going to try and resist any sales. We could use the help. :) I love the idea of attracting butterflies too.

I got some nice perennials at O'Toole's today. They had some that were in 4" pots 3/$10; then some that were in quarts for 2/$10. I got a nice hosta and a sweet william and some perennial dianthus.

I also got sucked into a few annuals. I wandered around and watched bees to see which things they liked best. I was just mesmerized by the honey and bumble bees enjoying a blue salvia. So that's what I selected. I could watch them all day.
