What did your vet say when you first took him in?

The vet said that all his vitals were fine, and that the puncture was most likely from another cat, she examined his legs for any injuries, and the only thing my cat was getting upset was when the vet touched him near the wound. He's very active despite he's 14, and yesterday morning he was fine, it must've happened during the day

You need to call your Vet!

Bathing the wound with hot salt water wlll help greatly; hand hot not scalding. It may even get any abcess to burst, I live too many miles away from any vet to be able to take my critters in often and have learned ways like this. My old collie used to hurt her feet ro bleeding and salt water helped each time. Agree not to worry too much re food. Mine always want to be alone and hide and as long as I know where they ar etc I let them.

Since you've already established treatment for the injury with your Vet, why not just give them a call and ask if what's happening is to be expected. Before you call, take a good look at the wound to see how it looks then make a quick list of all the symptoms you're noticing so you don't forget anything. They will either tell you it's ok or suggest you bring her back in.

I know it's upsetting when our sweet animals are injured but it sounds like she's going to be fine. When our dog got bit by another dog, she had puncture wounds on her shoulder and it was quite sore for a bit. The vet didn't want anything on it except a little bit of Neosporin (antibiotic) creme. It took a couple of weeks to heal but she was fine after that.

i would give it some time for the antibiotic to do its job. puncture wounds should heal from the inside, out. they are the worst kinds of wounds to hold bacteria but with the proper meds, will heal just fine. watch for swelling and redness which would indicate infection. doubt you will see this since you got the meds started right away.

How is the cat doing? Keep an eye on him since he is 14 yrs old and be careful giving liquids and food by syringe......you wouldn't want him to aspirate. If he's eating at all on his own, let him continue to do so. Just feed canned food and add some broth or water to make it a little more soupy. You may have to try some of the pate-type wet foods since some cats like those better.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to give me your advise. Last night I continued with pedialyte and he ate some more. This morning his appetite seems to be getting better. He's still somewhat lethargic and still limping noticeably but less than yesterday. He's eating canned food, but noticed his gums are somewhat pale, is that normal? He's still getting pain medicine and his wound isn't swollen . It seems like he's getting better but just worried about his gums.

The vet probably looked at his gums at the exam. I don't think the bite would affect the gums.

Gums go pale with pain and shock. Will ease as the wound heals.

Thank you I didn't know about gums! He's been eating significantly more, lethargy slowly going away. This morning I found him on his favorite sleeping spot, which is on top of some boxes i have in the garage. :)

Is he on antibiotics?

He is, she was given antibiotics via injection. He's on pain medicine buprenorphine twice a day, but I think it's making him weak/tired, all he wants to do is lie down, he's eating and using his litter box, but seems very tired

Cecilia; normal to REST when he is hurt. Dogs and cats have much more sense than we have when they are sick and injured. They rest allowing their bodies to heal. So let him rest?

FYI, buprenorphine is a narcotic (i.e., a depressant), and therefore drowsiness is a common side effect. Hope your kitty is doing better - cat bites can be nasty things, even with immediate intervention!
