probably some sort of fireplace. Growing up in the 80s they were all over our neighborhood. I wouldn't light anything in it without having a mason check it out though.

If it was my yard I'd keep it, even if it's inoperable. Could be a wonderful piece of garden art. Pull the ivy off and clean out the hearth to see what you're working.

Looks like a defunct handmade fireplace to me. It all depends what type of yard you are wanting to create. If you want a clean modern look- demo it. If you want a shabby chic/ vintage/ rustic look- leave it.

Looks like a pich oven for baking bread. There are a lot on old farmsteads. How deep is it?

I think it's too shallow to be a fireplace. It might be just a decorative piece for candles..like the ones they have at some churches outside..

It does look like an incinerator. I would keep it, including most of the ivy and refer to it as "the ruins" but that may not be your style.

Is that a grape stake fence I see in the background?
