Do you know what type of honeysuckle? There are many and some do better in more sun than others, but in general, full sun for at least 6 hours will result in best growth and most profuse flowering. Also, you will likely NOT notice much growth this season. Vines take about 3 years to establish fully and the plant is currently focused on developing a strong root system - they need a lot of fuel to support all that top growth and big, healthy root system is generally at the root of that (no pun intended!!) :-))

FWIW, as long as not one of the invasive species, honeysuckles do an excellent job of disguising a chain link fence and the fence makes a great support system.
