BM revere pewter HC-172 hands down. Such a great colour imo looks slightly different in every room... (warm neutral looks grey).

For south exposure most definitely BM Gull Wing Gray with BM Super White Trim. I coud live with this color forever.

Always choose your paint last. Also, you don't have to have it all the same colour!

Don't dream just yet. PLAN. You've no tile, no floors, no cabinetry, no nothing. Use the time to plan the features first. Get the help first.... dig the hole first. : )

I can ask questions in any order I want actually. And while the house is not built we have strong thoughts on most of the interior already. Thinking about a colour isn't really something for you all to fret about is it? I know I don't have to do all the same but we did at current house and I love it. No plans to do different unless dramatically swayed.

I would go with an off-white/light cream.

Alison, we are very experienced here. Choose your coloured furnishings first before your paint. It's so very difficult to do it the other way around.

Off white, cream. I like neutrals with color provided by furniture, rugs, art, etc. Building a house is an exciting project, no downside to thinking ahead. Good luck.

SW Accessible Beige, but I like color for formal dining and powder rooms.

I painted my whole house except for kitchen and bathrooms BM HC-46 Jackson Tan eight years ago and love it still. It has a south east exposure, and every space looks different. Recently I did a sunny house in Santa Cruz entirely in BM HC-107 Gettysburg Gray. At first it looked a bit dark, but with furniture and art it looks fantastic! I love the idea for using one color throughout for a contemporary and elegant feel.

Darn good thing I love turkey! Great thing about turkey is you can add salt and pepper and gravy and cranberries owe so easily if you like ;)

Absolutely there's no harm in dreaming how you want a house to look! But it ideally begins with larger and more permanent elements than the paint on the walls. What is the flooring tone, what are the kitchen cabinets and counter tops? Is there a fireplace? Is that mostly drywall, or will there be a stone or other treatment? If so what is that treatment ? What about walls? Any wood accent walls? Any paneled walls? Any ship lap or other detail? What about the ceilings? Any details there? Any coffers , or beams or tongue and groove? Anyone?? Are the upholstered furnishing most;y light or mostly deep in color and then are they mostly warn or cool in tone? What of the rugs? Sisal? Patterned? And warm or cool in tone etc. etc.? Just curious.

planning is great and there's nothing wrong with planning way in advance, but there is in planning without order. it's like deciding how to garnish before deciding whether it's a cake, biscuit, or farmer's pie being made. unless you've already decided on the other details? If you have, share, and advice could be more specific

I was literally asking for your thoughts. What colours people liked and why? That said if I'm not a moron and will heed the advice of the interior designer on this all in terms of when different things need to be selected including colour on walls. My idea books show a lot in terms of the types of colours we like on the interior. So many decisions will come down to cost and where we want to splurge vs spend. Overall the plan is for a fairly open concept main floor with one flooring throughout, excluding powder room and guest room. There will be a fireplace in the living room. I doubt there will be beams on the inside and there will not be shiplap. Focal wood wall unlikely and cost dependent. Honestly it's all ideas now only. We will make actual decisions correctly based on the order requested by the people we work with. I didn't mean for this to turn into anything crazy just wanted to hear popular ideas, trends and why people like colours. Thanks to those that simply answered the question.

Also, smart of you to take into consideration the exposure of the house when you finally choose. South light is the sunniest exposure and east light really only stays briefly.

You can do soft yellows, gray greens, light greens, pinks and some darker blues...not navy. There is another color I used in a cottage here on Cape all through the house which got mostly south light. BM Seashell...gorgeous.

Dreaming is free so dream big. I love the Restoration Hardware Silver Sage which is almost identical to Benjamin Moore Gray Wisp. Nice neutral colour that changes depending on the light and would go with almost any other colour choices for floors, cabinets etc. I agree with the idea of having a colour scheme in mind for a house. The choices are completely overwhelming when it comes to fixtures and flooring etc, it is helpful to have an overall scheme in mind so that all your final choices are cohesive. Have fun and enjoy.

I love C2 Vancouver Day and have now had it all through my main living space for 9 yrs which for me is a recoerd and contrary to what I tell my clients I chose that wall colr the first time i looked at the house even before we renovated, sometimes a house just tells me what color it wants to be.

Hilarious that there is a colour called Vancouver Day and it's basically grey and dreary! Perhaps we will choose that and be true to our location. It is Vancouver after all.

It actually is not dreary at all I hate actual Vancouver Days because they are dreary but this color somehow is not at all like that

I really like it too. I looked at several pictures online and it looks quite beautiful. Very well suite to the west coast I suspect. Basically I'm going to keep a list of all the colours recommended and when we meet with the interior designer ask her what she thinks about them.

If I were picking one color, it would be a color that makes me happy, and therefore it would be a warm and sunny color, probably a pale yellow. But, I would never pick a paint until I have my furnishings picked out, and I would not likely paint every room the same color.

I would pick green, but each room would be a different green. Oh, wait, I'm talking about my house. Yep, each room is a different green. ;)

Given it's Vancouver, I would stay away from anything that had a grey hue. A lovely, soft warm linen works so well with white, black, brown and even grey...see pictures below and the shades I am thinking of are BM below - with the exception of White Dove and Swiss Coffee (too grey). Also, when you have 4 closely related colors like these, it's easy to modify some rooms based on the light etc. but the slight difference will be subtle and they allow you to move into more pronounced whites with connecting rooms . All the best with all of your decisions and the building stages; exciting times.

A medium shade, mid-warmth taupe. Modern, sophisticated, elegant, and goes with almost anything.

SW Accessible Beige with White Heron trim (or whiter) is my choice throughout - except for bathrooms - I have a pastel spa blue (SW Iceberg) wallpaper that really makes a finishing statement. Accessible Beige sometimes looks beige and sometimes grey - very neutral but warm. I love turkey too !
