You saved my cucumber's life! And my ego. Thanks!

You'll have a lot more chances before the summer is over. Pick them when they are smaller and the black bumpy things are still scratchy. If you make pickles, they'll be crunchier if you get them in brine soon after harvest. (5% brine, dill seeds, pepperconrs, corriander, and crushed garlic. Yum!)

So what about this one?

That second photo is a good size to harvest at.

I tend to harvest before they get that fat, especially if they're going to be pickled.

Yea cukes are another wonderful veg you can pick almost anytime before they turn yellow. As they get larger so do the seeds so use that as a guide too.

It would help if you could tell us what type or variety you are growing. From th photos it looks like some sort of pickling type. They look similar to Chicago pickling cukes. I grow bostons for pickling and they tend to be longer and good for spears in quart jars

Not OPer, but I was surprised to find that my cukes are naturally yellow! Not sure what kind they are. The skin is a bit tough, but the flavor is great!
