Exterior materials/colors?

We are building the house, and this is what the exterior looks like. It is craftsman. The problem is that most craftsman homes are siding/shingles on the exterior, but our city requires the exterior to be at least 70% brick/masonry. The architect envisioned just a bit of siding in the front, but that doesn't appeal to be. Thoughts on what materials/colors I should use?
