We will need more info and photos. Thanks!

Sorry I wasn't finished. In our effort to save space we are discussing using barn door style doors on the two separate doorways entering the bathroom and separate toilet room. My question is does anyone have experience with the amount of noise opening / closing these doors? I'm thinking middle of night toilet visits or early morning baths with sleeping partners.

They definitely make noise when moving across the rails. I had one in my last home however we didn't often close it. It was possible to move it slowly and stay quiet. I totally love the look.

I also think they give less privacy, for instance someone posted a dilemma recently showing the issue you have with having to have them out far enough to clear the baseboard, leaving a crack, or you have to eliminate the baseboard. Pocket door would eliminate that problem, if you can fit them in your walls (depending on plumbing, etc). Noise could still be an issue though. Also consider reversing swing of door, ie a door opening out into hallway from bedroom or out into bedroom from bathroom to help maximize usable space. We did that years ago with our small laundry room and it really helps us make the best use of the small room.

IMO a barn door on a toilet room would be a huge waste of space in a batthroom but without an actual floor plan it is hard to tell. IMO if the toilet is in the same space as the actual bathroom the need for a door is useless , who wants to use the toilet when someone is brushing their teeth. The idea of an actual separate space like in Europe makes sense but not the way it is done in NA. As for barndoor going into bathroom from bedroom I think it would work but a pocket door would be better and since you are redoing the spaces maybe see if that would work

Terrible idea from a functional standpoint. You need a local architect to work with you on your plans. It would be foolish to spend the 150K+ for a project of this nature and only deal with a contractor's input on design.
