Thanks for the great question, and such an excellent observation! A normal thickness for countertops is 3/4" which is what you see for the perimeter countertop in this kitchen (with eased edge). On the island countertop, there is a 1 and 1/4" thickness with double ogee edge. This is normally achieved with a small lip underneath to make the edge look like two layers of stone. Normally you cannot do two actual layers of stone because it would be too heavy.
