Coming from a company that manufactures cabinets, I can tell you that the doors and drawer faces are the most expensive part. Since you're looking for white, you may be able to save a little bit of money by ordering Thermofoil vs painted wood, but they're expensive no matter what. If I was going to DIY, I would start by trying to paint my existing doors before ordering new ones.

I haven't used Barker, but it's probably the best company for doors and drawer fronts.

I checked out Barker doors but unfortunately they don't sell painted doors. I don't want to buy unfinished doors...

As for painting my own cabinet doors, I don't want to because i don't like my current traditional doors. I want a more contemporary shaker style. :)

Thermofoils and other plastic laminate materials will not last very long. I purchased very nice cabinets with high quality furniture plywood cabinet construction but the doors and drawer faces had plastic laminated foil over MDF. The plastic overlay soon started to peel, crack and de-laminate from the base wood especially close to heated surfaces like convection microwave ovens and refrigerator sides where the condenser coil vents the warm air. Painted cabinet fronts or stained wood is much better and can be repaired. Ideally, for white cabinets, 1/2" to 3/4" thick solid white Lexan or other plastic fronts are best, albeit expensive and must be custom machined but will outlast most other doors and drawer fronts.

We ended just re doing the whole kitchen instead of just refacing. We ordered J &K cabinets white shaker cabinets. Happy we were about to change the layout as well
