Bought a house in Eastern NC last month. This plant is very bushy, is planted around mature trees & is in many areas of my yard.

I've had some people think it is forsythia. Though it doesn't look like the forsythia that I'm used to--woody branches & yellow flowers in the spring.

They seem like they need trimming, they're about 3' tall in some areas, it's grown a lot in the last month.
