the first picture is fine; the second is too dark for us to see the colors or even the arrangement of the room.

before you spend money on drapes, etc., get a console for under your tv and a fabric cover for the tv wires. in other words, declutter and arrange before you add decorations. the blinds will do for now.

I would select a more neutral wall paint color, change the blinds to a wood look, and then add drapery panels & accessories

ndyke, not sure what inspired the dark crimson. It is pretty intense. Here is a softer accent color

I have been trying endlessly to locate the pennington rod pocket curtains you suggested from overstock, but no luck. I liked those out of all the others. Any idea where i can find them or something similar? Do you think green curtains would work?

Navy would be a great choice in the space and would break up the expectation of following the color scheme you already have.
