I'd go to a warmer, richer color, perhaps something like a rust and/or warmer gold. For the pillows, I would go with solids, since the furniture itself has a lot of detail. Just wanted to add that I think you could add art and with color. Some of the pieces seem small as well, such as the art near the buffet and the art on the other of the drapes from the clock.

Bt accessories, do you mean just fabric?

You have a variety of styles going on..formal drapery treatment; a rather formal rug; modern chairs; art deco lighting and the huge clock with Roman numerals...

Black seems to be the only accent color you have now.

I suggest your accent color be red and blue and choose something like an Asian pattern to make the formal; art deco and modern work together. Asian anything fits anywhere, IMO.

A wonderfully luxurious room, and I think an injection of colour, as suggested, would be good. But just one question -- why a change table in this area? Is there not room in the nursery?

That is to nice a room to have a changing table. We had the laundry room next to the kitchen. I put a pad over the drier and a self for necessities and it worked quite well thru two kids. Specially the dirty diaper part. Our house was 2 story and I did want to climb so much. Even when other babies came over they used it too.

To address the changing table questions - it's there bc I have triplet babies and we basically need a changing table in every room! Lol. This is 1 of 2 changing areas and its temporary just so we are not running up and down the stairs.

Can you post more views of your space? The chairs in the little alcove may look better with the sofa as a grouping, but I don't know what else is going on in your room.

I'm not a fan of big battery operated clocks as decor and I don't care for drapes being held back. Otherwise, your furnishings are great! I presume you could use a bit of a rearrangement, but hey, you can wait until they're out of diapers and go for it then!

I think your room looks really nice as is. But if you do want to infuse some color, I love JudyG Designs' ideas. Especially the Asian pillow.

Beautiful living room with a touch of elegance but you do need more color! I love the colors that JudyG suggested, especially the red, which is my favorite color. Let's see if we can find some beautiful and elegant pillows.

with so many lights, i feel you might have an aversion to the richer colors. I have 3 great combos i can give you. for right now i will give you one pillow for each.

I know you didn't ask about the clock but the scale of it is really wrong in the space. Beyond scale, the colour (black and gold) don't reference anything else and so stands out without the benefit of punctuating the space.

Thanx everyone! I was all about decorating our new house before we found out we were having triplets. Clearly I had to put the brakes on and think strategically about pieces I want to invest in. I love all the different pieces I have but I think it's all lacking cohesiveness. I'm not opposed to the red, rust tones but not in love either. Please keep suggesting more ideas :)

Your clock and table look nice together, but stand out cause they are so striking. That that idea and combine pillows with black and gold to help balance the colors. Stay with neutrals, just mix in a few more black items.

@havingfun - you got it! We get a TON of light. I prefer softer tones to balance out the gold, mirrored furniture and the dark floors.
