Dark charcoal gray rug and towels, plain white shower curtain, fresh coat of white paint on the walls. I think this small bathroom has enough pattern with the floor tile and tile grout, leave the rug, shower curtain and towels plain solid colors.

What's your style? I think this blue tile could look great with a preppy or Johnathan Adler vibe...like kelly green accents.

I would definitely paint the shelf white! And use white or light gray rug/curtain with no pattern, I prefer a clean look. Like you said, it's a small space.
