2 peppers plants in a 4 x 8 foot space isn't too crowded, but I see a lot more there. The zucchini will become a monster. If you want to make changes, pull one zucchini and leave the peppers alone. The plants look healthy so far, so why make changes? The short amount of sunlight they are getting may keep them from growing too big. For suggested spacing, you can check out Square Foot Gardening.

It's depth for roots that is the important factor. As well as spacing.

You mean to say the PS vegetable plants are also in that one container?! If so more than the bell peppers need to come out.

Overcrowding and not enough sun .................... your vegetables are not going to be happy.

What is under the bed? Dirt? If so, you are fine. If it's concrete, not so much.

Igteacher and irisgal, the sun exposure I can't help. As mentioned earlier the patio location limits the exposure. And yes, there are other vegetable plants in the 8' x 4' bed. I'm getting some nice cherry tomatoes as can be seen in the pic. Recently harvested some average size bell peppers. So they seem to be doing ok.

Igteacher: On another forum about the squash it was determined I was using too much fertilizer which is accounting for the nice green foliage, male blossoms blooming but no female blossoms opening. I'm laying off the water soluble, nitrogen rich Miraclegro brand fertilizer for a while to see if they open up so I can hand pollinate the squash blossoms. I also don't see any bees around. I'm definitely going to get the square gardening book.

Suzi, before I built the raised bed I tilled the ground to a depth of 6" - 8." The box depth is 18."

I removed one tomatoe plant, 2 squash plants and some very small bush bean plants that were not growing much. There's much more room now.
