Same flooring throughout and without pics of the kitchen can’t really answer that item

I'm with Patricia. Same flooring through the space REALLY helps. If you go that route, please do NOT purchase laminate. Laminate and kitchens are a disaster. Laminate, even high end one's, have a lifespan of 3-7 years in a kitchen. They bubble and peel in the presence of moisture (steam from a dishwasher and a leaking fridge are the most common areas of damage).

Giving a kitchen a face lift can be done with new wall paint (a few hundred $) or it can involve an entire refacing of cabinets + new counters + new back splash + new appliances + new lighting (for $30K)...As you can see that is quite a range. A few hundred to $30,000 is too wide a range for us to guess what you are trying to do.
