I have attached a diagram that illustrates the installation of one of these trays. You will see that below the tray, the only space required is for the gas line, so a 24 x 24 would be ample, But you need at least 4" depth for the gas line fittings that are under the tray. So I need at least 4" clearance from bottom of pan to top of gas valve from the ground for the gas fittings? If so, I don't think that should be a problem as I believe it will be 12" on my end.

Going to pull the trigger on the 30" model. A few questions I have for the base.

1. What are the venting requirements? I think I read somewhere that having 2 vents is recommended.

2. Other than vents (if applicable) and gas key, any other need for openings in the structure?

3. Do you have a photo of the chrome cover plate? I would assume this has openings for the key valve and electric igniter?

Hi there, In answer to your questions,

Venting: 36 sqr Inches of venting needs to be provided. This is to be divided between two opposing sides of your fire pit structure, i.e. 18 sqr inches each side, creating 'through ventilation' of the fire pit structure.

The venting can be one 'hole' or a series of holes, as long as they total 18 sqr inches each side. The vents can also be covered by a vent cover that suits you fire pit structure design.

If you are using Propane, these vents need to be as low down in the structure as is possible. ( Propane is heavier than air and sinks to the bottom )

No other openings required, other than getting the gas supply into the structure.

The Chrome cover plate refers to the decorative cove that fits on the outside of the shut off valve. See photo. I think you are referring to a mounting plate for the shut off valve and starter button. This is not supplied as it needs to be designed to fit each individual fire pit structure, which of course are all different. You need to mount the valve and starter at a minimum of 3 inch centers for ease of use, onto a stainless steel plate, made to suit your structure. i.e. rectangular or square. I have attached a picture of one for your reference.
