Yes, that is normal, Marica. Your plant has some nice size blooms on it and quite a few at that. The Triples & Quads many times have blooms that hang down a bit, because they are so heavy. Sometimes branches need to be staked.

I will show a photo of my "Triple Twilight" that has it's buds swelling. Start another thread so as to not take away from yours.

Do some grafting with the branches after it blooms. You would still have time to get them grafted and started before fall. The tree would start new growth also.

I just whacked off 2 of mine and did some more grafting.

Marica, is it open yet?

others are barely open and the one just stays with the outer petal open. I keep watching. The buds look rough and not perky. So i cross my fingers.

My flower haven't opened anymore but I have 3 flowers that show some sort of fry flower or burn. Any idea's?

Could water have been splashed on them?

Hmm.... Mine did the same thing... I'm blaming it on heat (105-108) here, but my other flowers doing fine. Maybe our experts have better explanation?

I have found with my big triples and my one quad that because it takes so long for the flower to develop and open all those layers that the outer layers start turning brown before most of them can open. Especially in high heat. Don't know whether it would help putting the plant in more shade while the buds open will help, I didn't try that myself but will next time. Don't know for sure if this is the reason, just guessing based on the plants that I've seen struggle to open their buds.

Marica. Is it in full sun ? If so move it into light shade.

I had moved it out of full sun a week ago. You would think they like the high heat. Even with mostly shade. 103 14%H. They have their extra water. I brought it into the house, I have seven sad looking not fully open blooms and 3 have gotten that brown and fallen off. Since these are my first buds. Live and learn.

I got 3 tree's from back east in the mail and they have the high heat but 80%H. They all lost their leaves in partial shade, which happens with change. They are all getting new leaves now.

Elana and I both also have smoke from the fires. So that may add to the problem, We are about 700 miles apart.

Marica, I also had problem with triple santa. It had many buds but few fully open.

Marie, Did your triple santa open better the next year? All of the the flowers opened as the first pic above. So I will have to wait to see my first nice flower till spring. The colors were nice just not the flowers.
