so very sorry for the loss of your dil's dog. how very sad.

i knew this about xylitol but i suspect many don't. as i understand it, it is so highly toxic that even a small amount can kill a fairly good sized dog. :(

It was a dachshund, so it didn't take much. It had been DIL's buddy for 8
years, through thick and thin. They didn't have a clue. The suddeness
of it, makes it hard. The kids were busy cleaning, and trying to
baby-proof the house. It may have been, that DIL's purse was put down
too low to the ground.

That is very, very sad to hear. I knew that too. I don't have anything like that in the house, but I understand it is very attractive to animals. Certainly a good thing to spread the word about this. Poor puppy and so sad for your DIL.

Yes Ellie RK is right; please always check your peanut butter labels if you're not buying organic! In my experience, it's listed under the ingredients. It's in many candies/mints as well (you probably wouldn't be intentionally giving those to your dog, but keep them far out of reach).
