I would like to see the sofas facing each other and the velvet chairs against the wall. You loose that great purple color with the chairs in front of the window.

I think I would like a variegated combination of all the colors in the room in the art.

Is this small view of your home about the same as the rest? Do you tie in certain styles, or colors elsewhere / that we should know about!?

To me it totally depends on your art. Is it on colorful side, or less saturated? This adds subtle global look / pattern.

everdebz, it doesn't impact at all. Each chair doesn't need it own painting. There will be a table (s), lamp (s) etc. when designing the vignette. It is also the shorter wall and the dark of the chairs and artwork on the gray wall will help it recede a bit. As it is now, the sofa, IMO, looks forlorn and out of place because it is so pale and uninteresting. Sofas facing each other become a statement. The coffee table is perfect for that arrangement, but not for how it is pictured.

Freechels, according to your ideabook, you are hiring decorators, yes? Shouldn't you be leaving all this up to them?

The combination of the grey wall with the cream couch and deep purple chairs is stunning. It looks like you're going slowly, taking your time and enjoying the process. I can't quite see from the photos how high your ceilings go, but it looks like a strong horizontal artwork over the sofa would be most pleasing.

While with the clean, simple lines of your furniture one would automatically default think, "abstract," I encourage you to keep your options open and look into representational art as well. Representational art is an excellent opportunity to "speak" to your viewers and visitors concerning the places, and things, that have meaning to you. Also, experiment with color, and do not feel obligated to stay within the confines of purple, grey, and cream -- the colors in the painting will provide their own accent.

Hmm, I must have missed something. I do agree with Judy that your beautiful chairs will look show stopping against that back wall. I would suggest faux fur/shearling in a grey tone for the sofa...like the grey fox or snow leopard William Sonoma Home is offering. Do you need pillows for your chairs. If so, can you get lumbar pillows made in the same fabric?
