The designer here...First off, sorry for the delay in answering all of your questions, but I see retailers are doing it for me!!!...I'm pretty busy making more Great Spaces! for you to see and long days havn't left me with much energy in the evenings lately...sorry! :) Thank you for the compliments...I'm delighted that you like my work. I'll try to answer your questions in order, Danielle, the walls are Sherwin Williams Tony Taupe...it's a great color! Tfontz, those are indeed Pottery Barn's Hundi Lantern's (Thanks 20 and a half! I see you are a true blue Pottery Barn Fan, me too!) The other light fixture is Kichler's Circolo Collection and tfonz, lighting doesn't have to match...it just needs to blend with each other. These are two completely different styles yet the blend beautifully! And Gail, I'm going to override Glass Subway Tile's commentary on my work for a moment...I would not have said that to you...no, you won't get the same look in your kitchen if you do dark cabinetry. It will be a different look completely! Part of the success of these gorgeous kitchens you see on Houzz is because designers have mixed the cabinetry and other finishes to blend beautifully. Combining different color cabinetry makes the spaces more interesting and lighter cabinetry with dark accents like the Island provide the drama and an up to date look. To answer your question about the backspash and granite, I think the most important thing is to make sure the glass and the granite look great together and keep it light. Watch your tones in the glass too...sometimes they have undertones, like the one above that seems to appear blue against the granite they chose...perhaps a cream glass if you have tan/brown countertops. White granites are more expensive than the tans/browns/yellows so shop before you start so that you understand the cost...make the granite decision first , then pick your glass!
