I got these art deco chests yesterday and will paint them. They are scratched up ( got at a thrift store). I will probably use Palladian Blue by Ben Moore for the bedroom and use the chest as night stands. I will have a white iron bed. The bedspread for now will be the fabric shown. I am wondering what color to paint the chests. I could of course go with white. The color samples show the Pallidian Blue on one and the other sample shows a wedgewood blue. Wondering if I should go more turquiose or even gray. There won't be much else in the room. I am asking for suggestions for color. I wasn't sure if I should let the art deco style dictate the color or go with just whatever would look best. Thanks for any help you want to offer.

Now I am even wanting to add a crystal knob to the drawers which would be rudundant since the drawers have built in pulls, the little wooden one at top of each drawer.

The wall with the windows will be where the bed will go and the 2 stands on each side. The window is not centered on the wall so I hope I can make it look good. The room is only 11 by 12. The other photo shows the wall as you are leaving the bedroom entering the dressing room. The wall to the left would be the only other place I might add a small trunk or piece of furniture. Thanks so much!

In the bottom photo the wall to the right is the same wall the bed will be on (the window just didn't get in this photograph.)

Oh, wow a blank canvas -- how fun. What color will your walls be, and do you have any other decor in mind for this room (other than the fabric for the bedspread)? You can't really go wrong with a soft white or ivory, but since you mentioned turquoise and gray, I am newly smitten by this color from a Thomas Wold kitchen:

I might also be tempted to do them an almost-black to give the room an anchor.

I like the turquiose. Do you know how hard it is to find just the right one?
My first thought was a very dark gray almost black for the reason you mentioned~ If I can find a link for the bed that I will be getting will post here I will send it and see what you think.

I forgot about the walls...I showed a chip of Palladian blue by ben moore at the top..last chip on the left. Either that or something in a light gray like gray owl or a grayish white.
If you have any other ideas I would love to hear them.
The spread fabric is not written in stone either.
Like you said..a blank canvas.

I would paint the walls a white with an hint of gray paint the chests a soft to medium gray. Go with white on the bedding(use some of your blue as pillows keep it simple) and an antique dark wood trunk at the foot with a quilt , blanket ( with your blue) and some decor items like antique books stacked randomly with old eye glasses. The iron bed will set the stage sounds like a B&B room warm charming and serene.

Thank you Monique, This is pretty much what I had in mind. My Aunt painted my grandmothers trunk a nice gray blue, I will probably keep it that way since she did it. It wil give a mix of blues and I love all the different blues together.

Have you thought about using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint on the 2 art-deco pieces? I think you may get the look you are going for, and it is much better to work with, as opposed to BM (or any other standard latex paint)

What is this room going to be use for? What color do you like? Don't focus on the bedspread frist because you can't go wrong with a 35.00 vintage chenille bedspread from walmart in cream or white .

Sally, It is our bedroom. All I will have in there is the bed, the 2 night stands we are discussing and a trunk. Right, the bedspread is not that important. I think I was just putting up a color so people would have reference to the colors I like...
blues, grays etc.
I want to night stands to really stand out and not fade into the walls and I have always heard that white brings out the design of furniture.
I like the way you think.

Palladian blue looks wonderful with Stratton Blue, a caramel, dark, dark brown like BM Van Buren and a deep watermellon red.

I think some full-length curtains behind the bed, perhaps sheers and some darker ones on top, even a classy Moorish lattice pattern that is so fashionable these days, would look nice and help disguise that the window is off centered.

I tried to have a bed in front of a window once and hated having the light coming in over my head, even with curtains, sheers and window film. Maybe some blackout shades would help.

HI -- What you have bought are not Art Deco but the sides of a dressing table . The sides would have had a mirror/shelf section inbetween. It was part of a bedroom set of furniture that was sold in pakage sets of a budget friendly line of furniture popular after the first world war and into the 30's called "Depression Furniture" . It was considered cheap and affordable for the time but was not cheaply made by today's standards. I hope you did not pay too much for them because their value is not great and yours will not be collectable because it is not complete .
