Bungalow?

I would best describe this house as just an old house build before the 1930's (isn't much differentiation in architecture during that time) with craftsman finishings and rustic style. Curb appeal advice - throw some color in your landscaping. Though keep in mind the house is tan and brown so don't get too creative, but boxwoods and white hydrangeas would look wonderful in this space as is. Best of luck.

Dark Charcoal roof trim and then a lighter version Gray for siding would look nice with your brick. Leave columns and horizontal trim above columns Dove White . Window trim needs to be all White or all Charcoal since trim is small (notice right upper window which does not have white inset...it looks better and bigger with one color). The boxy area above gabled porch roof should not be white...it stands out too much...make it disappear visually....maybe darker like roof color. Add a pop of color of your choice (robins egg blue or cranberry?) to the door. Try samples and have fun with it. Maybe someone could do a virtual mockup for you. Show us the after pictures :)

I can't tell if the current roof trim is green or black. If it is black then you could keep it and use the charcoal on the second layer of trim below the roof line and do the lighter gray on the siding below that. Love the columns and trim detail.

Just curious...what is that boxy area above your porch gable? Wish it could be removed as it takes away from your nice gable roof detail. Also you may get more answers if you re-post/rephrase your question on a Friday. I also think your idea of darker taupe on the roof fascia trim and then lighter taupe on siding (including lower gable) would look nice with your brick. Test samples to get the neutral color right... watch undertones. There is a designer at My Color Coach who will give exact color advice for a small fee. Again, you should choose one color for the window trim to rest the eye and increase appeal. Paint the gutters, to match the lighter house color, so they blend in. Best to you...it is a lovely house.

The white box in back of the gable trim is probably a step-out balcony accessed by what looks like a door converted from a window that matched the one on the other side. What geographical area are you in?

Remove the roof top balcony and replace the door with a window to match the one to its left. Rethinking trim color would be an improvement. And nix the white lantern on the left side of the porch. Prune the large bush to the right, but keep the shape natural. Good luck, nice house.

@apple_pie_order we can't decide whether or not to get rid of it! Could look much cleaner without it, and the bathroom leading out is really too tiny for the door. It also gets too cold in the winter to use it for 6 months of the year. We're in southern Ontario, tons of similar houses around.

Actually the style of your house most closely resembles Greek Revival. If you're not married to the balcony I would remove it as that alone will clean up the look of the house. The two shades of green do nothing to enhance the look of the house. I would pick a taupe that works with the brick and if you wanted to add some interest then paint the window trim a shade or two darker of that same color.
