Green 50's bath; what color complements?

Hi - I'm updating my large, original 1956 bathroom. It's got the classic sage green bathtub, green and white basketweave tiles, and the same green tile as a trim along the wall. It's really cool, very retro. Currently the window is covered with a gross vinyl shade. I'd like to make a fabric roman shade, but I'm feeling lost on what color/pattern the fabric should be.

I have no secondary/complementary color currently, so I'm pretty open. My concern is making the bathroom too retro- kitschy, which is not my look. I want to stay true to its style but also make it look modern.

I'd appreciate any advice on choosing a color or pattern to nicely showcase my cool old bathroom!

Sorry, but there is nothing cool about a sage green bathroom. There is no color that would "compliment" (sp) that. But if that's what you're going to do, then I would just pair it with white.

you should try finding 1. print fabric for shade or 2. shower curtain or 3. art which contains your green, some good neutrals, and maybe another color that you can use for highlights.

How cool! Hard to tell without seeing, but black and white might look really nice with the green. Or maybe gray and white....

I'd look for a retro styled barkcloth. Etsy and eBay have lots of that. You won't need much fabric for a roman shade. I'd go bathroom themed but doesn't sound like that's what you are looking for.This one caught my eye. Any of the those Cloud 9 barkcloths look nice.

Sounds awesome. My mother owned a 4 plex built in 1940. Each unit had a different colored bathroom, I liked the green with black trim best.
