New Pergola Needs Help

We recently built a pergola that needs to be stained or painted. The question is what color. Our house is a very dark green, bordering on black depending on the lighting. Should we try to blend it with the existing color of the house? I feel like the current color makes it look unfinished and doesn't enhance the curb appeal of the house. any suggestions?

Love your house and pergola! A clear stain works with your stone and a dark stain works with nature (making it disappear more). You really are fine either way.

I love the natural color. Maybe just something to protect the wood.

I also really like it the way it is and I also like the idea of painting it the color of the house....might be lower maintenance to do a stain and seal it if that matters...one more thought, it looks like your front door maybe a different color unless thats just the way the light is hitting it, anyway if it is a different color, that might look nice doing the pergola to match...another suggestion, I just put in a pergola on a rental property and I put a metal roof on it which I love for 3 reasons, shade, protection from rain and I love the sound of rain on a metal/tin roof. Very easy and affordable to install too!

@puremichigean60 - please elaborate on the suggestion about hiding the porch foundation. Are you referring to the front door porch? thx

I'd be careful with a green as it could look a bit too playful w the red chairs and blue hammock. Leave the green to all that great nature. I stand behind my original comments.
