Hi, Do you have a photo straight on to the fireplace showing the whole room? Just my humble opinion, but not liking the TV there, or the idea of 2 of the same art pieces on each side. I think the mantel needs a large piece of art above it since it is the focal point and your ceilings are high. Also, I do not think you need the 3 candlesticks on the bottom of the fireplace. Hope this helps! Hard to say without seeing the whole room.

Wow. This is a hard one! TV looks fine now that I see the whole shot. Maybe a larger, longer piece of art on the right side? Could try moving the box on the right table up to the middle on the top and putting the book and pot on the bottom shelf......Also try the plant and clock on the mantle and the 3 brass candlesticks in the middle of the wood chest. You might try raising the square art piece up some. I think a little deeper color would look great. You might also try switching the two tables, as the chest, because of its "bulk", may look better next to the window and near your lighter colored sofa. The metal table takes up less visual space and I think it would look better to have that piece closed in in the "alcove". I think the left side looks weightier than the right because of the dark wood and darker upholstery, and less light. It would look more balanced if switched. Well, I am fresh out of ideas. It will be interesting to see what other people come up with. Happy decorating! :-)

Lower the TV.

Lower the picture about 4 or 5 inches--you don't want it hanging even with the top of the arched doorway. When the other one comes in try turning it so that it's not hung the identical direction. That might help....can you show a picture when that happens?

Good points. You also do not want the top of the TV lined up with the top of the art pieces.

Maybe try a tall slender etagere on the right. Something not chunky looking but not glass either.

Thank you so much! I just purchased the lamps and console table and really like them and would like to find a way to make them work. There is about a 2' recessed depth to the left of my fireplace and none to the right. My chest is to deep and wide to go right. I put the box under the lamp on the right to give height to match the other lamp but I don't think it looks right. I was going to cover the tv with something like paneled doors or something. Not sure what. I definitely need the right side to look heavier somehow.

I am ordered a sofa to match the French chairs and plan on using this hounds tooth fabric on the those chairs in some way. The lighter sofa won't be in the picture and the ottoman will be recovered in something too.

Consider finding a new home for the chest. Stack the new pictures in the inset. Leave the glass topped table where it is and center a lamp on it. The chest is just too heavy for the space.

I wholeheartedly agree with patricianhall! The chest is way too large for the space. I love the idea of moving the console into the niche with a lamp and a large plant to the right, near the window.

The areas are very crowded and the chest is too large for that space IMHO. I am not liking the art on both sides because of the wall indentation. Perhaps two smaller stacked pieces on the left. Some good advice in above comments. I don't see what is really different.

Your art is still hung too high

Get a throw to go over the ottoman or have it recovered--actually a coffee table would be better there.

In "real life" you would never light the candles on the tray because they'd be very likely to get knocked over. Put some flowers or a small plant or something useful and get a larger tray.
