Fish out of water!

I found my beloved, 9 year old, all white feeder fish "Spot", out of the pond in the grass about an hour ago. Although not moving at all, remarkably, I was able to "swim" him (swam? swum?) for several minutes and he eventually came back. He was swimming on his side a bit but after some aggressive therapy he started to really pull away from me. He seems fine now - swimming fast and straight.

I've put on all the underwater lights and two motion activated lights. Thing is, I don't think it was a predator. I think he was chasing one of his great-grandaughters around and just flipped out. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I lower the water level? Put up a barrier? Keep my fingers crossed?

I'm so glad I was there (this time) but I worry for the next time
