Just a guess, but could it be A. 'Kew Pink'?

Leaves on the 'Kew Pink" are very linear, plus it is ...hot pink.

The one on your photo - has wider leaves - and the color is more of a burned red. Since Aeschynanthus is in culture for quite a while - it can be species or it can be a hybrid - and not necessary named.

The photo was taken here, w central Illinois. It is a bit overgrown, but not much at producing blooms. I should have said that it came labelled as A. gracilis.

I grow A.gracilis... I agree with you - it is not even close. We have a wonderful Greenhouse here in Denver, actualy in Arvada, CO - name - Echters - and they sell fantastic well grown specimen plants - Aeschynanthus and Nematantus ... naming.. that's a different story...All Nematanthus is called gregarius, all Aeschynanthus - radicans. Even if it is A.longicalyx. Great plants - and at least they are not called Flying Dolphins, Guppy Plants, Lipstick Plants...whatever common or made up marketing names can be found.

There is a wholesale grower "Costa Farms" - their tropical collection is sold under - Exotic Angel brand - can be found in Home Depot - their plants are super nicely grown and variety is impressive - naming is atrocious. Your plant can come from them. They actually have A.gracilis - but they have several dufferent cultivars as well - but whatever label is in a bin - will go in.

It looks like the "mini variegated" lipstick plant. It has small blooms. Exotic Angel sells it.

Doesn't look variegated to me- Exotic Angel sells a lot of good stuff, but they do not have a list of inventory on their site - only the genera - and general suggestions on the care. Which is a pity. I saw several different Aeschynanthus cultivars from them in the last 10 years - always well grown and attractive - but the name lipstick doesn't say anything to me. It is like going to the steak house and saying - I want meat. Huh?

I am thinking - if the plant we purchase is from Exotic Angel - we can email them and eventually get to the person who has the detailed knowledge of what exactly they sell...may be...

I just do not buy plants I do not have a way to acquire the full name... but it is what I like. My personal pet peeve.

I have this plant and the variegation depends on the light levels.

I have some leaves that are mostly green and it is now putting out variegated leaves since it is getting good light. A lot of the ones they sell in the stores are all green.

I think they dont get very bright light in the conditions they are grown in before being shipped to the stores.

It is not VERY variegated - I can find some light golden variegation... kinda... but it is really for the best. Overly variegated plants is hard to keep alive!
