I would re-think the carpet color, unless it's too late. If the carpet color is already in, paint the walls a creamy, warm off white, to coordinate with the white in the carpet. If you can change the flooring, I would stay with warm, natural colors throughout - soft sage green, creams, etc.

We recently used this color throughout a town home that has light maple kitchen cabinets paired with Pietra del Cardosa stone counters. Palette could work very nicely in your new ski condo and with the carpets you have chosen.

Thank you to everyone for your comments! The patterned gray-blue carpet color for the living room is not 100% cast in stone yet, so we can still switch the color shade within the same family. I have attached a more neutral/taupe color swatch for the sunken living room (less blue) and would love feedback. The other Berber loop carpet has been the subject of much analysis within our family of 6 with kids ranging from 5 to 12, so we like the "hide" qualities of that rug while preserving some interest and color at a low cost...please consider that locked in.

We have Ben Moore Edgecomb Gray in our kitchen at home and love it -- would that be a fit for a paint color here?

Couch and loveseat will be from IKEA - Ektorp in either Nordvalla Dark Gray or Nordvalla Dark Beige (see both below). We have 4 kids and like the cheap slipcover replacements. Advice on color greatly appreciated!

Try taking a photo of the taupe and the Berber next to the fireplace and the wood. Another alternative is to use the same practical Berber in the living room, too, eliminating the trendier lattice pattern carpet. Beige and off white Ikea slipcovers are a practical choice, I agree.

I think we have the living room all figured out. We are going with the warm taupe lattice pattern carpet and will do Edgecomb Gray on the walls. Thanks for the advice!

Now I need to figure out a paint color for the walk-out basement. It is north-facing so it can be dark especially in winter - the natural light is blue/gray. The den has an ugly 1980's brick hearth and a slot for a wood-burning stove that was removed long ago. Please ignore the wall art, vertical blinds and HORRIBLE furniture...those are being removed today! The bathroom is also getting renovated. However, my son who snuck into the picture is staying :)

The wall across from the brick is the same wood as throughout the rest of the condo.

Our plan is to decorate the vacant stove slot with some white birch logs. However, we really want to paint the brick. I was thinking of doing an off-white on the walls with a slightly darker coordinating color for the brick. Any advice would be a HUGE help!

I thought Edgecomb might be too dark next to the wood but I think it would work.

Maybe go to Edgecomb at 75%?
