Our new home

I need help bringing this home Into the 21st century. The brown roof and gutters will need to stay, replacing them is not in the budget. The storm also needs to stay, unless someone has a bed get friendly option for it! I will be doing a lot of landscaping in the spring. For now I would love suggestions for any architectural details that might help this home out. I would also love paint help. My current thoughts are painting it a Greige to match one of the colors in the stone. I would then paint the window trim and the garage door white. I am considering painting the front door a darker blue. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Your home is beautiful. The only thing I think you need to change now is the front door...Not this one but a similar style is what I would choose.

A neighbor just built a similar style home and her landscaping is kind of sparse and sculptural. It's just perfect for the house. So I would remove the bushes you have...also lighting would really make your house standout. I hope an expert pipes in with that.

Yes, very beautiful. Depending on how modern your tastes are, You could replace the garage door with a frosted glass to modernize. If the dark brown siding bothers you, a dark warm grey would be nice. The house has a great midcentury modern vibe to me.

Really nice mid-century modern home and the landscaping is not bad. Unless you could change the roof line, expect to keep the look of that style -- so there's no real reason to change out the nice front door (unless it needs to be replaced for some other reason) aside from, possibly, painting it if you choose to do that.

Even if the brown roof must stay, the brown color could be changed for a relatively inexpensive facelift. The fascia board at the roof line could be painted black and the rest of the brown could be painted another color -- perhaps a dark green or a medium flat gray or even a true (flat rather than gloss) white or your favorite color from the stone part of the exterior -- as your least expensive option for change.

Consider minimizing the garage door by painting the garage the same
color as the rest of the building's exterior walls -- whatever choice
you eventually make for that. Then you could add bold color to the
front door to make it the focal point of the front of your home.

The most dramatic change would be to replace the row of modern windows with patio doors and have them lead to an octagon shaped sun room with a glass roof with an overhang that is higher than the existing modern roof line. You'd be changing the roof line visually without changing the existing roof.

A more traditional and less expensive physical change to the front of the home could include adding a flat roofed front porch with either a balcony or porch, perhaps a screened porch, with a steep gable roof (to change the visual of the roof line) accessible by patio doors replacing the pair of windows upstairs overlooking the garage roof.

Adding a cupola to either the house roof and/or the garage roof could help change the very modern visual of the roof line in a less expensive way as would just changing out the windows to bay windows.
