this home is a small ranch (rambler). Two huge trees in the front yard with roots protruding. Small shrubbery in front of house along sidewalk that leads to a small white block w two steps and rod iron rail into main entrance. White metal door with small window. Pretty plain and looking to add color and landscaping to add shore home feel. At the entrance to the driveway, there is a small decorative patch with anchor and ducks. Hard to see in this photo. Thought about creating a boardwalk from main entrance that would run in between trees to driveway along with addition of new shrubs/sea grass along path. Not sure what to do to give the property more of a waterfront feel. .

Like the bungalow idea for sure, it will be nice to have a flowerbed about 1 1/2 ft wide down either side of driveway with seasonal flowers so that they will not be affected by winter snowfall.

agree about the pergola. brighter front door and shutters.
mass plantings of color will be a big help in enlivening this home. groups of flowering shrubs and drifts of low growing ornamental grasses and perennials native to your area, ie: lavender?

I would paint the shutters a beachy color like blue or possible a light green.
