For a large room like that I'd recommend something lighter rather than darker. But what color you choose depends so much on what you are going to put into the room. It is often best to choose your paint color based on coordination with your furnishings. If you post a picture, I'm sure people here will be able to make suggestions, though you'll need to try out samples for yourself and look at them in different lights. It is hard to choose paint colors from computer screens.
