Does anyone else walk their dog everyday, including very hot days like this?

We're most walking the dogs, but let them out in the backyard to run and play for periods under 10 minutes. It's mostly tall tree shade, so a tad cooler.

The pups don't need any coaxing to come back inside when it's this stinking hot out.

I walk my dogs at least 4 or 5 times a day. When it is this hot we don't go too far, just far enough to get the job done. I do try to get them to shade as much as possible, but it's not always something I can do. My Havanese can take the heat much better than my Miniature Schnauzer. She has a double coat and he is clipped much shorter than she is.

The advice I always heard for Bulldogs was they can't tolerate the stress of hot weather. (Typical advise from people that keep there dog inside on the couch with the A/C on cold.) Now I hear the same admonition for my Greyhound.

I used to walk every one of my Bulldogs at least a mile everyday, unless raining or snowing. Used to walk two at a time and always mid-day. As I've gotten older and heavier, I now walk my Greyhound every day at 11:00AM for a half mile at one of a few of our local wooded parks.

Good socialization for the dogs, as we frequently meet families and classes of kids.

I remember going to an AKC All-Breed Confirmation show in Frederick, MD, in 2001 or 2002. Temp was over 100 degrees.

There were Nine Bulldog entries. Only one Bulldog showed up, the others presumably not able to tolerate the heat.

My Bulldog, TONTO, was Best of Breed. (1st of only one entry.) The Judge was very complimentary about my girl! We remained for a few hours for the Group Judging - of course we spent part of the time in my A/C vehicle.

Besides the stress of heat, I hope everyone remembers to protect their dog's feet when taking their dogs out in this hot weather. Stop and place your hand on the ground, concrete or whatever you're walking on and if you can't keep your hand on it for any length of time, then it's too hot for your dog.

74 here in Ireland. warm for us of course but a glorious cool wind and washing is drying fast,,, love the photos. My wee dog hates the sight of a hose pipe etc and barks
