The inspector had no issue with it. However, I did discuss with the homeowner that they cannot have any combustible window treatments.

No matter how great your vent is, you will end up with a greasy film on the windows. Not the end of the world, just be prepared to wash frequently. It is on my list of "never again" items for kitchens!

This range was in the same location for many years. The homeowners never had a problem with it or the windows, and they are fairly meticulous.

CW - Precisely what I am saying - you need to be meticulous with that stove placement. If you aren't meticulous it is going to be a mess!

dbmove you misunderstood me. They are not meticulous cleaners, they are meticulous at defining what they like and don't like. They lived with the range in the same spot for 10 years and had no problems, and they are cooks with 3 hungry kids. They, in fact, chose to put it back in the same spot. When I work with my clients I listen to what they want, and what works for them, and help them realize their dream kitchens. These homeowners are ecstatic with their new kitchen, as they should be -- it's stunning as well as extremely functional for their needs.
