Amberroses, do you have pickering? How does it stand compared to other compact mango trees? I would really love to get a lemon zest mango but I heard they get HUGE! and the location I want to plant it is on the south side of the house about 8-10 feet from it and close to driveway by about 5 feet.

My Pickering is barely 4' tall bought as a 3' tall 3 gallon and put in the ground in 4 years ago in 2012. Last year was its first bloom but anthracnose took them. This year it bloomed and it lost the fruit.

No biggie I have other mango trees so I have time to wait. I look forward to next season, but if it aborts again I may pull it.

Just a Julie seedling that has done phenominally well. It's about 10' tall and has never been pruned

Carrie always is near the top in taste and is naturally compact. I wish I had one.

I heard they are good standfh but haven't had the chance to try one. Are the trees small compact?

I like the both the Julie and the seedling (I call it a Juicy Lucy) and pickering about equally.

I top worked an east Indian spicy stringy 10 year old tree with Carrie from a 3 gal Carrie I have. The graft is absolutely HUGE after under a year! I do not think the growth habit ofvthe carrie is as compact as is reported on a trunk ablw to support growth.

I might just pick pickering since I heard it is very compact I want to keep a variety at 6-10 ft and bushy.

Yes. Pickering is compact. Pina Colada also seems compact, but it hasn't fruited yet.

Have you tried piña colada mango yet? Never heard of that variety. Sounds delicious!

No I haven't tried it yet, but it is supposed to taste like pineapple and coconut.

How large does the piña colada mango tree get?

I'm not sure how large it would get. It's a new variety.

Well if anyone could clarify how large that variety gets would be much appreciated and if it fits my spot then I will have to go hunt for it!

Piña colada might be out of the picture for me a little too large for the space I think pickering or Carrie might be it now choosing which is hardest lol
