Need advice for an entryway rug

Hi! I'm decorating our first house with my husband, and next up is an entryway rug. We live in the city, and my husband isn't always great about taking off his shoes after coming in from the rain or snow ; ) I'd love a light colored rug, but I'm worried it'll look terrible after our first winter. Any suggestions? I was wondering if a jute or natural fiber rug might hold up ok.
