You know what i do for clients I use a heavy poster board with the floor plan drawn to scale and the furniture cut out and in scale and then play with arrangement it is easy for my clients to see what i am thinking and allows them to play too. You can get the measurments for different pieces from online stores like Wayfair to start.

That's actually a great way to share with a group to get ideas too (as opposed to hovering over an ipad, etc.). Once I have some solid ideas for key furniture pieces, this could be great - Thank you, Patricia!
